A package containing explosives was discovered in the mailroom of Germany’s finance ministry on Wednesday, March 15.

Bild, one of Germany’s larger newspapers, reported that the package was addressed to Finance Minister Wolfgang Schäeuble.

German police could not confirm the addressee. They did state that the package contained explosives sufficient to cause considerable injuries.

A finance ministry spokesperson would say only that an investigation was underway.

Germany has been the victim of several violent attacks in the past year.

The worst was when a Tunisian refugee, denied asylum, drove a truck into a Christmas market, killing 12.
