When it comes to dogs, it’s usually the human training the pet, but in this adorable moment, it’s the clever canine who’s teaching the girl a trick or two.

When Buddy, a Jack Russell and Rat Terrier-mix rescue dog, saw little Allie struggling to figure out how to crawl, he shows her exactly how it’s done. Lucky for us, it was all captured in this sweet YouTube video shared by mom Valerie Stevens-Scott.

In the short clip, you can see Allie moving her limbs and struggling to crawl—then Buddy steps him. The cute pup positions himself next to baby Allie and demonstrates what to do by scooting himself along the carpet and making a gesture just like crawling. Allie doesn’t quite get it, but we—and over 15 million viewers—are still impressed by this smart dog.
