Britain kicks off drone racing championship

Drone racing is taking hold in England. Drone racing is a fairly new, but growing sport. This year’s drone racing championships brought excitement.

“These they are built for speed, they’re built for handling, nothing is on these drones that isn’t necessary and all the stuff that is necessary is built out of carbon fibre and space age alloys, so it really is pushing the boundaries of what is possible,” said Eric Li-koo, race director.

Sixty pilots comprising 15 teams competed. Each team contains four pilots, and usually a technician, to fix drones that crashes.

Drone racing is also called first-person-view.  Teams wear goggles to get a drone mounted camera view. Spectators can also tap into the camera feeds.
