The Georgia highway that buckled will get a rapid recovery. The Georgia Department of Transportation promises a midday Tuesday fix.
Repair crews are using ground penetration radar to check the area. An Atlanta Gas Light spokeswoman said the buckling wasn’t caused by natural gas. A contractor was in the area working, but it is unclear whether that caused the buckling.
A motorcyclist hit the breaking pavement at high speed during the buckle. He is currently in critical condition at a hospital.
