Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy has vehemently denied domestic violence accusations made against him by a woman who said she is a good friend of his girlfriend.
On Tuesday, Instagram user miamor_i_adore posted a photo on her account of a woman with a puffy upper lip and dried blood all over her face with a caption calling @shadymccoy, the football player’s Instagram handle, an “animal” and a “the devil.”
The post also accused the football star of beating his young son “for small things like peeing in the bed,” beating his dog so badly its kidneys failed, and using illegal steroids.
“But we will not keep quiet about this,” the user said. “I can’t believe you did this to my best friend!”
McCoy responded on Twitter and Instagram a few hours later.

“For the record, the totally baseless and offensive claims made against me today on social media are completely false,” he said in a statement. “Further more [sic], I have not had any direct contact with any of the people involved in months.”
A representative for the Buffalo Bills could not be reached for comment, but ESPN reports that the team is aware of the allegations and has been in contact with the NFL about it.

McCoy, who turns 30 on Thursday, started his career in the NFL in 2009 with the Philadelphia Eagles before joining the Buffalo Bills in 2015.
He has led not only his team, but the NFL with the most rushing yards (over 10,000), the most receptions (441) and at 81, the most touchdowns.

However, there have been instances in which McCoy has lived up to his nickname “Shady.”
In 2012, he was hit with a civil lawsuit for allegedly leaving a woman at a rest stop in New Jersey after she objected to him pouring water on her, and beating her up. He and his lawyer also denied those allegations.
