A Minion, Pikachu, and many other balloons got a pump-up on Wednesday, one day before the 97th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York.

Every year, visitors gather on Manhattan’s Upper West Side to watch the balloons get inflated. There are 25 balloons being prepared for this year’s parade.

New additions for the 2023 event include the Beagle Scout Snoopy. The Pillsbury Doughboy is another newcomer.

Macy’s held its first Thanksgiving Parade in 1924.

More than 3 million people are expected to attend this year’s parade in person. Law enforcement will be on high alert for potential terror threats amid the ongoing war between Israel and the Hamas terrorist group.

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade starts at 8:30 a.m. ET at 77th Street and Central Park West and runs for 2.5 miles. The parade ends at Macy’s in Herald Square at noon.
