Burger-eating champion wins contest for third straight time

Molly Schuyler has won Z-Burger’s 8th Annual Burger Eating Championship in Washington, D.C. for the third time in a row.

Schuyler, a mother of four, downed an impressive 21 burgers in just 10 minutes. However, she said it wasn’t her A game.

“I was sluggish today,” Schuyler said. “I ate 28 last year.”

She is one of the top-ranked competitive eaters in the world. In May, she claimed the recording-holding title for consuming 7 stacked Hwy 55 burgers, a side of fries and a 20-oz. drink in 1 minute, 37 seconds in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The competition had 14 eaters that fought for the $1,500 first place cash prize.

“We like to be in the spirit of Fourth of July, and what’s better than having a burger eating contest?” said Z-Burger founder Peter Tabibian.

One contestant said he enrolled for the free food.

“I was hoping to do at least six, so I’m happy I got to seven, lucky number seven,” said James Feeney.
