California Bill Would Effectively Emancipate 12-Year-Olds: Attorney

California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a controversial bill into law this week that prevents school districts from removing books they deem inappropriate. Another bill, however, AB 665, seeks to provide teens and tweens with “equitable access to mental health services”—but envisions that children as young as 12 can leave home to seek out these services, and without parental consent. NTD’s Daniel Monaghan spoke with attorney Nicole Pearson from Facts Law Truth Justice about the California bill now awaiting Gov. Newsom’s signature.
