California Facing Largest Unemployment Benefit Fraud in History

California is facing the largest unemployment benefit fraud in the state’s history. Besides the CCP virus pandemic, California is also plagued by unemployment benefit fraud mostly involving inmates. Michael Hestrin, the Riverside County District Attorney, said thousands of California prisoners filed unemployment insurance applications illegally. And the fraud amount could be 6 times as high as the previous estimate of $2 billion.
