Chinese fast-fashion brand Shein has managed to outpace Zara and H&M.

Despite allegations of plagiarism and forced labor the company’s low prices continue to draw shoppers en mass.

But how does Shein’s production cycle work?

A July lawsuit in California revealed Shein’s use of AI and a special algorithm used to scrape the internet for design ideas.

Another key part of the strategy tapping a network of largely China-based suppliers.

That’s in light of accusations Shein uses Uyghur forced labor in the Xinjiang region to make its cheap apparel.

Recent import records show virtually all of Shein’s products imported to the U.S. came from China.
