It was a dark and stormy night, but rather than finding a ghost or ghoul, Lyft driver Del Hedrick found a pink baby: that’s not to say he wasn’t shaken. Hedrick recorded his late-night find with a camera and contacted the police immediately.
The Santa Rosa Police made an honorary post on behalf of the barefooted toddler’s hero, stating that it is because of people like him that the community is #SantaRosaStrong.
Thanks for the mention! _roarbaby_: RT @lifeasdel: Happy Tuesday! .

Coincidentally, he found the toddler after dropping off a customer at an apartment complex. Besides not wearing shoes, the baby was not dressed for the severe storm—a pink dot in the dark night.
Where Do You Live Pinky?
Hedrick searched the apartment complex after he secured the little one in his car. However, he found no open doors and no sign of pinky’s home. So the hero returned, lifted pinky, and shared his warmth.
When the officer arrived he found Hedrick sheltering the toddler. The officer continued the search and successfully reunited the toddler with her babysitter.
Sgt. Jeneane Kucker told ABC News that the toddler was about 50 to 70 feet from her home and it that only took about 20 minutes after Hendrick made the call for the toddler to be reunited with her family. The police did not suspect neglect or abuse, but rather that pinky is an escape artist.
A Reminder for A Father
It turns out that Hedrick’s fatherly instincts have an origin, and as soon as he arrived home from rescuing pinky, he hugged his own kids, according to ABC News.

A man was driving for Lyft when he was startled by what he saw when he dropped off a passenger: a baby was in front of his car, alone in the pouring rain.

Facebook users shared their experiences in similar situations: some had played the parents and others played the aimless wanderers. And of course, they thanked Hedrick the Lyft driver for his heroic deed and uplifting story.
