Several top universities in Quebec have imposed a WeChat ban on all school-owned devices. This comes just days after Canada barred the social media app from all government networks citing cyber security concerns.
McGill University was the first to take action, and then Concordia tagged along within a few days. The two schools urge students to use discretion and try not to access university data if they have WeChat installed on their cell phones or computers.
