Candy for the eyes, and the belly too, the tantalizing chocolate making process

Ahh chocolate! Who doesn’t like a bar of chocolate occasionally? Probably safe to say that most people do enjoy chocolate now and again. Chocolate is made of cacao, a tropical plant originating from Central and South America. Cacao is classified as “Theobroma cacao”, which in greek means “food of gods” – no wonder it’s so delicious. It’s goodness was even proved by scientists who claim that chocolate induces more endorphins, or “feel good hormones” than even kissing.

When we buy a bar of chocolate, most of us don’t consider how complicated the process can actually be.  From cacao cultivation and harvesting the fruits, to the  fermentation process, then drying and shipping, and finally preparation of the cocoa in large quantities, conching, and finally tempering and moulding – it’s a long and complicated process from the cacao plantations in tropical regions, to your neighborhood grocery store. But it’s the last stage of making chocolate which is the most fascinating – the phase of endless creativity, where the chocolate artisans are able to make wonderful cakes, sweets and other creations. This process is different for every pastry expert.

In this video, we can observe the final stages of creating delectable desserts in a Parisian chocolate factory. The final product might be considered an “edible art form”.
