Car Jumps Curb in Las Vegas, Killing 3 Boys, Injuring 1

At least three boys between the ages of 12 and 15 were killed in a car crash in east Las Vegas on Saturday, Sept. 30, it was reported.

The suspected driver is in police custody after the hit-and-run crash. A fourth boy, 13, was hit and taken to a nearby hospital, where he’s expected to survive, Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Peter Kisfalvi told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

“These kids’ life got cut short when it hasn’t even begun yet,” Kisfalvi said. Two of the three boys, he said, appear to be related.

They were walking on the south side of the street when they were hit by the car. The car was apparently trying to pass another car on the right shoulder and lost control, jumping the curb and hitting the boys.

It also smashed a light pole out of its base, Kisfalvi said.

“This is just completely unnecessary,” Kisfalvi told the newspaper.

Witnesses told police that the driver, 28-year-old Joseph Eskandarian of Las Vegas, ran from the scene of the crash, Fox5 reported. He removed his clothes while running through the neighborhood.

According to Las Vegas Now, Eskandarian was discovered by police six hours later.

It’s unclear if the driver was operating his vehicle—which was unregistered—under the influence, CBS reported.

The identities of the slain boys were not revealed.
