After recently giving birth to her second son, Carrie Underwood has been spending some quality time with with her husband, her newborn, and her older son—and even found some time for herself. But of course, it hasn’t been all bliss.

After Underwood and her husband, Mike Fisher, welcomed Jacob Bryan back in January, she wrote on Instagram about the difficulties bouncing back into her old fitness routine. As a result, she had been a little hard on herself since the pregnancy.

However, on March 31, Underwood posted a beautiful picture of herself sans makeup after working out, with a loving message for her friends, family, and loyal fans.

“When your face matches your shirt = you had a good workout! Unless your shirt is blue…then maybe you should be concerned!” She wrote. In the picture, she wore a tank top with the words “I’m doing this for me” written on it.

“I especially love the top because this is basically my motto these days!”

It came after a post on March 19, where she admitted how hard it was adjusting after giving birth to her second son.

I’m going to be honest, “bouncing back” after having Jacob has been much more difficult than after I had Isaiah and I’ve been pretty hard on myself lately. I go into the gym and I can’t run as fast or as far. I can’t lift as much weight or do as many reps as I could a year ago. I just want to feel like myself again…for my body to feel the way that I know it can. As I was working out today, I realized that for the past 11(ish) months, my body has not belonged to me. It was a perfect home for Jacob. And even now it belongs to him every time he drinks his milk. As I prepare for red carpets and for life on tour, right now I make a promise to myself to start appreciating what my body CAN do and stop focusing on what it can’t. I promise to stop analyzing every angle and every curve and every pound and every meal. I’m going to keep staying the path because it is a journey and as long as I’m always working towards my goals, one day I’ll reach them. I’m going to take it day by day, smile at the girl in the mirror, and work out because I love this body and all it has done and will continue to do! #bodyafterbaby #fitmom #healthy #staythepath @caliabycarrie

She talked about how during one of her work-outs, she realized she needed to appreciate herself and what she could do as opposed to pushing herself farther than she should.

“My body has not belonged to me. It was a perfect home for Jacob,” she wrote. “And even now it belongs to him every time he drinks his milk.”

In the same post, she wrote that she promised that she would stop analyzing herself and being hard on herself and that she would continue on her own path to love herself and her body for what it was.

“As I prepare for red carpets and for life on tour, right now I make a promise to myself to start appreciating what my body CAN do and stop focusing on what it can’t … I’m going to keep staying the path because it is a journey and as long as I’m always working towards my goals, one day I’ll reach them,” she said. “I’m going to take it day by day, smile at the girl in the mirror, and work out because I love this body and all it has done and will continue to do!”

She took to Twitter to post about her adventures with her two sons, where she said her oldest son called her a nickname that brought back grade school memories.

“My own kid just called me ‘Carefree Underwear,'” she wrote. “This is basically elementary school all over again.”

She also revealed on Twitter that she made a rookie mistake while taking care of her second son, and she thanked a woman who bought her a drink when she saw the country singer struggling with her newborn.

“Thanks to the nice lady who offered to buy me a drink at lunch today after I carried my naked, poo covered, screaming baby up the stairs and back to my table,” she wrote in a post on twitter. “It was a rookie mistake leaving the diaper bag at the table and only taking a diaper and 2 wipes. Never again.”
