Health officials are warning that drug dealers are targeting children and young adults with rainbow-colored fentanyl pills. They are popping up across the nation: Just earlier this month, officials seized 15,000 fentanyl pills in a variety of colors and shapes intended to look like candy.
Nationwide, there were 107,000 overdose deaths between December 2020 and December 2021, and fentanyl is responsible for around two-thirds of those deaths. NTD spoke to Derek Maltz, a former agent in charge of the Special Operations Division at the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), for his insights.
