During a recent border conflict, Chinese soldiers killed 20 Indian soldiers, and Chinese authorities have not been open about casualties on their end. The incident is speeding up India’s existing push to decouple from China. At the same time, China has been stirring up other conflicts such as with Taiwan and Japan, locally, and with many other countries through its policy of “wolf warrior diplomacy” around the world.

Yet, in all cases the heavy-handed approach of China seems to be having an opposite result, and many countries are talking about distancing further from China. So why would Chinese authorities push a more aggressive stance at this time? We look into this question.

And war correspondent Michael Yon, who covered the Hong Kong protests and was later forbidden from returning to report, speaks with Crossroads about the situation in Hong Kong with the new measures to extend Beijing rule.
