Centrist candidate Emmanuel Macron has emerged as the front-runner in the upcoming French presidential election. The election up to this point has been mired in indecision from voters.

Macron is protégé to current French president François Hollande, who dropped out of the election earlier. Macron managed to surpass socialist candidate Benoît Hamon and conservative rival François Fillon. He also managed to exceed the support of perceived breakthrough candidate Marine Le Pen.
Macron stands on a pro-European platform and supports a stance opposite to Le Pen’s protectionism. The relationship between Macron and his wife and former drama teacher, a woman over 20 years older than him, is a favorite topic of tabloids.
