After eight sold-out Shen Yun performances at Lincoln Center, New York, audiences can’t stop praising the beauty of Shen Yun.
Paul Rosengard, president of North America Anatwine, attended the performance on Jan. 16. The unique combination of costumes, dances, and the backdrop caught his attention.
“[I] thought the colors were spectacular in the way the costumes worked with the scenery and the backdrop was awe-inspiring,” said Rosengard. “The synchronicity of the movement was breathtaking.”
“That was beautiful,” said Christine Gillespie, the Senior Vice President Associate Publisher of Penguin Random House.
“[I’m] not used to seeing people move that effortlessly. To me, that was the beauty of the choreography,” Rosengard said.
“Yes, so many of them at once,” added Gillespie. “Also, I was just amazed because their costumes in lots of cases… . Especially the women were flowing, and they [moved with] such grace.
The way they handled all that fabric, [how they were] able to move around and obviously their flexibility, their gymnastic capabilities, and their grace and elegance.”
Philip Pravda, CEO of Suitecafe Luxury Men’s Fashion, has worked as a designer with the most well-known names in Italian menswear such as Brioni, Valentino, and Dolce & Gabbana.
After watching Shen Yun, Pravda was not only impressed by the costumes, but also the values behind each story.
“I love the colors, it’s eye-catching. It keeps you focused right on the stage,” he said. “A lot of the music is very relaxing, but the colors and the dancing keep you focused on what’s in front of you.”
“I love the costumes, the colors, how the fabric, they get it to flow in the air when they move with the fans and the long sleeves. It was very, very interesting how they coordinate all the dancing with the fabrics, that the performers are wearing. I thought that was really interesting,” Pravda added.
“All of the different sorts of scenes that they portray, really teach you a lesson. Each one has a different lesson to it, using music and dance to teach that lesson,” said Pravda. “I think it’s very important to learn from history. All of the thousands of years of Chinese culture and history, people can learn from that and apply to things that happen today, in today’s times.”
