Last month two large litters of cheetah cubs were born within a week at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute. Zoologists are calling this a cheetah cub boom.

These cute cheetah cubs made their debut appearance on April 5 at the SCBI in Front Royal, Virginia. This is the second generation of cheetah cubs at the institute.

Happy, a 3-year-old cheetah, gave birth to five healthy cubs on March 23. Within five days, Miti gave birth to seven cheetah cubs on March 28. Two of Miti’s cubs died but the 10 surviving cubs are being nursed at the facility.

The SCBI said the mothers are doing well and that the 10 surviving cubs have all been successfully nursing at the facility.
