Chicago’s high crime rate may be grabbing the nation’s attention in recent years, but for decades, Chicago was better known for its architecture and influence on the world’s skyscrapers.

Priscilla Mims, a docent with the Chicago Architecture Center, a nonprofit cultural organization, explains that innovation and a myriad of architectural styles made Chicago the “City of Architecture.”
