Chicago Graduate Student Convicted of Spying for China

A former Chicago graduate student was convicted Monday of illegally spying for Beijing.

Based on evidence presented during a two-week trial, Ji Chaoqun worked at the direction of high-level intelligence officers from China’s Ministry of state security.

Ji was tasked with providing information on scientists and engineers with knowledge of U.S. aerospace and satellite technologies.
