China Builds Villages Outside Its Borders

Since 2015, China has been quietly building three villages—on a neighbor’s land. That neighbor is a country called Bhutan, and it’s slightly larger than the size of Maryland. A previously unnoticed network of roads, buildings, and military outposts has been constructed deep in a sacred valley there.
