President Trump said it may not have been Russia who hacked the emails of Democratic officials before the 2016 presidential election. He made comments in a sit-down interview with CBS program “Face the Nation” on April 29.
“If you don’t catch a hacker, okay, in the act, it’s very hard to say who did the hacking. With that being said, I’ll go along with Russia. Could’ve been China, could’ve been a lot of different groups,” he said.
The leaked emails revealed internal conflict and favoritism within the Democratic Party. It also unveiled other damaging information.
Russia has denied any involvement. Both Russia and China are long-standing cybersecurity adversaries of the United States.
