With tensions escalating between two global powerhouses, Beijing recently slapped export controls on two metals.

It’s been seen as retaliation for microchip restrictions by the United States and its allies Japan, South Korea, and the Netherlands. Will the new controls serve as a bargaining chip for Beijing? Or does Washington have alternative strategies up its sleeve?
