China Proposes Slashing Screen Time for Kids Under 18

China’s cyberspace regulator put out a memo on Wednesday that said those 16 to 18 years old should be limited to two hours of screen time a day. It went on to recommend one hour for ages 8 to 16 and a meager eight minutes for kids under eight years old.

To help enforce it, the Cyberspace Administration of China urged smartphone service providers to launch something called “minor mode.”

When in use, it would restrict minors from going online between the hours of 10 pm and 6 am.
