China Ramps Up Coal Production

Despite Beijing promising to reduce carbon emissions, the country is ramping up coal production to meet its surging power demands.

Last week, China restarted 38 shuttered coal mines in Inner Mongolia. Officials also authorized another 15 coal mines across the north to have another year of operation.
