Cities across China are imposing tougher restrictions to control new outbreaks of the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, which causes the disease COVID-19.

Two of the first local cases of the Omicron variant were confirmed in Tianjin city on Jan. 8. Omicron has already been found in two other provinces before: Henan in central China, and Jiangsu in the south.

Omicron infections were also reported in the city of Wuxi, in Jiangsu Province, on Monday. The Jiangsu area sits along China’s coast, about 75 miles from Shanghai.

And in south China, the city Shenzhen also makes the list.

The Omicron clusters come just weeks before Beijing will host the Winter Olympics.
