On Nov. 2, China’s foreign ministry accused the United States of giving Chinese journalists visas that are soon set to expire.

This May, the Trump administration reduced Chinese journalists’ visas to 90 days, with an option to extend.

That followed China expelling American journalists from several mainstream media from the country.

Spokesperson Wang said some Chinese journalists were granted visa extensions last week, but they’re due to expire as soon as Nov. 4.

Wang accused the United States of suppressing Chinese journalists and threatened potential reciprocal measures.
