China’s vast Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), is facing rising opposition from targeted countries as their debts mount.

Chinese Communist leader Xi Jinping launched BRI in 2013.

Beijing has been providing enormous loans to developing countries that can barely afford the projects. Some call Beijing’s ambitious initiative “a Global Trail of Trouble,” or “debt-trap diplomacy,” and so on.
