The Philippine Coast Guard on Oct. 6 protested what it said were attempts by the China Coast Guard to block a mission by four ships to re-supply Philippine troops on a disputed South China Sea atoll, saying it led to a near-miss.
Philippine Coast Guard spokesperson, Jay Tarriela, said a Chinese Coast Guard vessel came within one meter of a Philippines vessel during the incident on Oct. 4.
Drone footage showed a Philippine Coast Guard vessel being blocked, as well as being surrounded by the China Coast Guard vessels and militia ships.
