A New Year’s Eve event in Times Square is giving way to concerns after a Beijing official appeared during the festivities.
Huang Ping, the consul general for New York’s Chinese Embassy, is known as a staunch advocate for Beijing, and supporter of CCP leader Xi Jinping’s communist ideology, dubbed: “Socialism with Chinese characteristics.”
He also defends the regime against human rights abuse accusations.
