Chinese Holiday, Popular Tourist Spots See Surge

Cases of the CCP virus continue to rise in China. But with the country’s week-long National Day holiday in full swing, crowds of tourists are gathering and travel has surged. Concerns are rising over the potential for more infection.

Over the National Day holiday week, it’s estimated that 550 million people will travel across China to visit family and for sightseeing. That’s 70 percent of the 800 million who did so in 2019.

Thursday was the first day of the holiday. A large number of tourists appeared on the Great Wall in Beijing. A video showed that the highest point of the Great Wall was crowded with people, but the video was deleted by local media later on in the day.
