Chinese Premier Li Keqiang’s trip to Australia came to an end on March 26.

Li’s five-day visit focused on bilateral ties and trade with Australia. He is the first sitting Chinese premier to visit Australia in 11 years.

Li emphasized China’s commitment to free trade and globalization in talks with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.

The Chinese premier and Turnbull oversaw the signing of agreements that would expand the China-Australia free trade pact.

China agreed to expand its market for Australian beef to allow chilled beef exports from all licensed exporters, as opposed to only 11.

China is Australia’s biggest trading partner, with bilateral trade exceeding US$107 billion and two-way investment exceeding US$100 billion last year.
