Chinese Regulator Fines Social Media Platform $470,000

Chinese social media platform Weibo, the same platform that censored Peng Shuai’s sexual assault allegations, is being fined for not censoring enough.

China’s internet regulator fined Weibo close to half a million dollars on Tuesday. The regulator says Weibo is repeatedly publishing illegal information. They also say the platform violated a cybersecurity law that protects minors, without giving further details.
