Civil Liberties Association Raises Alarm Over Emergencies Act

Concerns are being raised about the Canadian prime minister invoking the Emergencies Act to deal with the blockade protests. The Canadian Civil Liberties Association says the threshold to invoke the act hasn’t been met and is warning that normalizing the use of emergency legislation is a “threat … to democracy” and “civil liberties.”
