CNN Poll Shows Majority of People Think Trump Will Win in 2020

A CNN poll revealed that most Americans believe President Trump will win reelection in 2020.

A CNN report says the poll, conducted by SSRS, finds 54 percent of people think that the president will win reelection, while 41 percent don’t think so.

The new poll suggests that Trump’s push for 2020 is gathering momentum. According to CNN‘s results in December, 51 percent of respondents predicted Trump would lose in 2020.

CNN also said that Trump’s rating is higher than former president Barack Obama’s rating was at the same point in his presidency. In May 2011, right after the death of Osama bin Laden, just 50 percent of people thought Obama would win reelection.

CNN says the study was conducted via survey interviewer calls to cell phones and landline phones of people in the United States. The calls were made from May 28 through 31. A random sample of 1,006 adults were surveyed.

The survey results split respondents into those “who approve of the way Donald Trump is handling his job as president” and “Respondents who disapprove of the way Donald Trump is handling his job as president.”

Of those who approve, the top reason they approve is because of the economy. The next top reason includes that Trump keeps his promises and does what he says he will do. The third highest reason is that he is doing an overall good job. Another notable reason people approve of him is because he is not part of the political establishment.

Trump earlier revealed plans to officially begin his reelection campaign.

“I will be announcing my Second Term Presidential Run with First Lady Melania, Vice President Mike Pence, and Second Lady Karen Pence on June 18th in Orlando, Florida, at the 20,000 seat Amway Center. Join us for this Historic Rally!” Trump tweeted on May 31.

According to Fox News the campaign is already in motion, with offices active in Washington and New York City.

CNN also reports that, compared to a poll from a year ago, the percentage of people who view Iran and North Korea as a threat has dropped considerably.

The percentage of survey respondents who saw Iran as a very serious threat in May 2018 was at 40 percent. In the latest poll that has dropped to 28 percent.

Those seeing North Korea as a very serious threat was 47 percent in May 2018, and the latest poll bring that down to 34 percent.

Poll respondents views of China and Russia as very serious threats has remained relatively consistent.

The survey question “How would you rate economic conditions in the country today” shows a steep climb in positive responses. The percentage of people who see the economic situation in the country as bright is at 70 percent. Only 29 percent think it’s in a poor situation.

In the first of the CNN/SSRS polls conducted after Trump’s election in November 2016, respondents’ positive views of the economy were only at 48 percent, while negative views were at 51 percent.

The recent news comes as the president sent out a tweet commenting on the legacy media’s effect on polls regarding him.

“If the totally Corrupt Media was less corrupt, I would be up by 15 points in the polls based on our tremendous success with the economy, maybe Best Ever! If the Corrupt Media was actually fair, I would be up by 25 points. Nevertheless, despite the Fake News, we’re doing great!” President Trump wrote on June 5, via Twitter.
