Police say the student was being counseled by another teacher for a dress code violation on Feb. 27, when Scott placed his hands about the victim’s neck and shoulders.

According to police statements, the student’s airway was restricted, and he briefly lost consciousness. Police say the victim was able to return to class shortly after the incident.

Scott turned himself in Monday without incident and was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center (LCDC), according to the statement.

Scott will have a bond hearing Monday, at LCDC. His next scheduled court appearance is Tuesday, March 19, at the Cayce Municipal Court.

The Cayce DPS School Resource Officer was notified of the incident by a school official and an investigation was begun immediately.
