There are two fixed ropes—one that goes and one that comes back. To ride them, they use a crotch and an improvised harness. The roughly 50-year-old cable is 800 meters long, 300 meters high, and is used to transport everything from food, to small animals, to even children in backpacks. The locals can avoid walking for two to three hours as the trip takes only 30 seconds each way.
