Combat photographer captures explosion that took her life

Two photos released by the U.S. military on Wednesday capture an explosion that killed five people, including the combat photographer who took them.

Taken in 2013, they show the moment a mortar  accidentally exploded during a training exercise.

Spc. Hilda I. Clayton was a visual information specialist. She and four ANA soldiers died from the blast.

Clayton was assigned to the 55th Signal Company at the time of the accident, according to Military Review magazine, which published the photos.
