U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo says lawmakers, Silicon Valley, and U.S. allies must stop China from obtaining semiconductors and cutting-edge technologies key to national security. Speaking during the Reagan National Defense Forum at the Reagan Foundation in Simi Valley, Calif. on Saturday, she told attendees the CCP is “the biggest threat we’ve ever had,” and that the United States is locked in a fierce commercial and geopolitical rivalry with the communist nation.

“We’re a couple of years ahead of China. No way are we going to let them catch up. We cannot let them catch up. So we’re going to deny them our most cutting-edge technology,” she said. “Protecting our national security matters more than short-term revenue.”
