Confucius Institute Ban Backtrack ‘Disappointing’: Expert

The UK says its Confucius Institutes won’t be shutting down, after all. The British prime minister promised to ban the programs, but now, he’s changing his mind.

The Chinese state-sponsored institutes have already closed in several countries. Beijing bills them as culture and language exchange programs, but they’re widely seen as a tool China uses to infiltrate the West. NTD spoke to Marc Sidwell, director of research for The Henry Jackson Society, who called the U-turn disappointing.
