White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said at a Thursday press briefing that electric vehicle sales are headed in the right direction—despite evidence to the contrary presented to her by a reporter.
EV sales accounted for just 3.6 percent of Ford’s overall sales in 2023, while General Motors only managed to sell half of the company’s target number of electric vehicles, the journalist said.
“We have seen 51 percent of an increase in EV sales,” said Ms. Jean-Pierre in reply. “That’s the data that we have.”
