Cops carry pregnant woman in labour 6 miles through snowstorm to hospital

Six policemen in northern India walked three hours and carried a pregnant woman 6 miles to hospital in a subzero snowstorm. Their act of bravery has become a much-discussed story on social media.

On January 9, 23-year-old Kamini started experiencing labour pains at 5.30 in the evening. A resident of Bhont village in Shimla, her family had no way to carry her to hospital as all roads were closed due to the snowstorm. Even the ambulance could not drive her to hospital because of the blizzard.

The family had lost all hope when six policemen came to their help. According to Indiatimes, the cops covered her in a blanket, straddled her on a cot hoisted on their shoulders and trekked to the hospital.

They reached hospital after 9.30 at night and Kamini delivered a healthy baby through c-section, a double reason for celebrations for the family as well as the cops. For sure this is a heartwarming story that shows how courage can win over adversity even in tough odds!
