The website added that the lists above may change, noting that it’s still early in the holiday season. It also predicts that online retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy will “dominate the online shopping experience” during Black Friday.

“The growing trend in online shopping for Black Friday and Cyber Monday continues to reflect that most consumers would rather spend the Thanksgiving holiday at home than out in traffic or shopping among strangers,” the website states.

A survey conducted by the website found that out of 1,000 participants, 72 percent said stores should remain closed on Thanksgiving, while 14 percent said stores should be open and they plan on shopping that day, and another 14 percent said stores should be open but that they won’t be shopping that day.

It also noted that 28 percent said stores should remain open on Thanksgiving, while that number was 25 percent last year.

Maine, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island forbid businesses from opening on Thanksgiving day, as per state law, though residents are still able to shop online.
