Slovenia was crowned the winner at the Escape Room World Championship in Hungary on Saturday, March 25.

Teams from all over the world took part in the competition, with Ukraine and Slovenia reaching the final round.

The Ukrainian and Slovenian teams, each made up of four competitors, had a limited amount of time to solve various mind-boggling puzzles.

The first test came with teams trying to steer a ball through a floating table.

They then had to manipulate objects by pushing their hands inside plexiglass boxes or rotating a complex series of disks.

The next challenge was designed to be counterintuitive, with teams assembling a series of lighted cables before discovering that both teams actually had to collaborate together to close the circuit.

“When we set out to complete this escape room and really this adventure for these world championships it was my goal to make sure that everything that was going on, that there was something for the mind and something for the body that also helped tell a story. We started with that mind gamers movie and understood the story it was telling and then tried to make it so that players would actually be a part of the story,” game room designer, Dr. Scott Nicholson, said.

Slovenia led from the outset and came out victorious despite a late challenge from the Ukrainian opponents.

The championship was part of the Red Bull Mind Gamers event.
