With concerns growing over a possible collapse of the Three Gorges Dam, where authorities have opened all water discharge gates amid heavy flooding in China, several issues with the dam are coming to light. We’ll take an in-depth look at these.

Meanwhile, with the ongoing floods in China, the third wave of the floods passed through the city of Chongqing on July 27, and the water levels in the Yangtze River and the Jialing River have continued to rise.

And Xi Jinping may have sent a veiled message by making a visit to the Siping Battle Memorial Hall. He visited the memorial on July 22, which pays tribute to the decisive battle for Siping City in 1947 and 1948, between the communist party and the nationalist Koumintang.
