So you’re stuck inside on a rainy day. You’re bored, but you have plenty of both stuff and time. What do you do? You build the best homemade contraption ever, record it doing what it does, and post it on YouTube, of course!
A lot of the Google inventions came from engineers just [playing] around with ideas. And then management would see them, and we’d say, ‘Boy, that’s interesting. Let’s add some more engineers.’
Eric Schmidt, Former CEO of Google,
Google might want to give this kid a call. He definitely has the “just [playing] around with ideas” completely figured out!
The incredible inventiveness in this low-tech contraption is definitely elaborate and it’s clear there were hours upon hours put into creating this new “thing-with-no-name-and-no-real-purpose.”
Creativity is at the very core of every invention. When we are not bound by time, resources, and deadlines, we allow space for our right brain to talk to our left brain, and that can result in the creation of some of the most meaningful moments we are given. This is who we are as humans.
