A university in Lima, Peru, is helping to feed flood victims. Students and staff in a culinary school have cooked 5,000 tons of beans to distribute to flood victims. The beans can be divided into 50,000 rations.

The beans will be taken to the government to distribute, since many of the affected areas are otherwise hard to reach. The beans took a community effort, as students and staff worked nonstop for five straight days to prepare the food.

The headquarters of the government is also opening its doors to accept food donations and get everyone involved in helping victims. So far, 79 have been killed, 21 are missing, and 267 have been injured. One hundred thousand people have lost their homes and over 600,000 have been affected.
