Da Vinci’s inventions brought to life in new exhibition

Leonardo da Vinci was an inventor beyond his time. Now, more than 100 of the machines he designed or improved will be brought to life in a new exhibition in Bruges, Belgium.

That includes the bird-like human aeroplane and portable bridge. These are made into reality using plans Leonardo drew himself.

Some of the designs were made at life-size scale, while others are models made of wood, wire, and other materials available in his time.

Similar exhibition have been done before, but none at this size.

Leonardo’s designs were varied and pioneering.

Though he was not the first to conceive some of them, he made significant improvements.

He envisioned a helicopter, plane, submarine and bridges way before they became mainstream.

500 years ago, Leonardo had already developed advanced concepts in civil engineering, hydrodynamics, optics, and anatomy.

The exhibition will be in Bruges for six months. Then, it moves to Istanbul, Dubai, and then across Asia and the United States.
